Hare Brained: Mad March Hare

Just finished this hare from issue 77 of Simply Knitting. I received it on Friday last week, and by wednesday evening this little guy was finished. I just need to make the jacket, but I need to find the right color for it first.

The only changes I made to the pattern was to knit everything in the round instead of flat, it wasn't too hard and it sure made the end process of sewing all the bits together that much easier. I'll be making some more of the daffodils in different colors as it was super fast and easy (also knit in the round and joined, so only one cast on and one cast off.

This is a little purse I knitted from Simply Knitting Magazine issue 65. I still need to cut and sew the lining for it and then piece it all together, so you'll be seeing it once it's completely finished.

Yarn Dyeing - Wild Water Mint Leaves

This weekend I decided to try some more dyeing. This time I used about 280g of the white wool I have lying around to dye with Wild Water Mint Leaves (plenty of them at the farm). This time I mordanted the yarn first using alum powder seeing as I'm going to be using this yarn for socks most likely, as my mum is really enjoying the two pairs I've knit her already.

The colour came out a yellowy green which I'm really liking a lot, so I'll use about 100g for a pair of socks for my mum and the rest I might just use to make a cute little purse featured in Simply Knitting issue 65 (pg 61)
